I should probably actually write journals once in a while.
Hi there!
I'm alive, I promise. I'm just really not creating much at the moment- a lot of my motivation is sapped by working 9-5, with 20 minutes of walking to and from work and the bus stop. I don't get a lot of time where I don't feel tired in some way, and even less time where I feel willing to work any more than I already have done. Work right now is actually pretty slow, with pretty much no backlog at all, however I'm still tired all the time. Thankfully I have some time off in a few weeks time, so that should help in some way. Get out of the country and stop thinking about the refunds that need to be done.
More serious talk I guess?
If you really want to see more of me, I do spend a lot more time on Tumblr - astrail.tumblr.com/
You'll find a ridiculous amount of video game blogging
So much
So many video game
Speaking of video games...
I recently purchased myself a whole brand new computer. My old case wasn't the easiest thing to upgrade, and I really wanted to get new parts installed. So instead I went for all the upgrades I wanted in one go.
Its very fance
For a few specs:
i7-4709K processor
1TB HDD with Windows 7 Professional
16GB (2x8) 1866mhz RAM
Nvidia GTX 970 GPU
As well as a Blu-Ray burner, and a bunch of freebies with the processor including ~Video editing software~, and ~That Batman game they took off sale due to being poorly optimised~ from the graphics card
I've been putting the video editing software to good use (but not good enough use to make me even think its justified to pay the actual price tag for the program, geez)
I've started uploading gameplay videos to YT! (:
You can watch them all on my channel - www.youtube.com/user/gikairan&…;
I will admit I didn't realise Nvidia had a built in game recorder until I was part the way through Borderlands 2. But all the sessions I've played since I realised it and started using it are available to view (or will be uploaded soon!)
Bioware have just announced another Inquisition DLC, so I'll be recording that when it comes out. There will likely be many Fallout 4 videos when that game comes out, as well as Dishonored 2 next year. As well as whatever else I play in between then.
I hope to give this a bunch of attention and get loads of different stuff up. I don't know how many people are really interested in videos without mic, but hey right now I'm having fun.
Other small random things- I worked Birmingham ComiCon back in March!
Not as an artist, but as an assistant for the company I work for. Not bad for someone whose never been in a store environment . It was one hella exhausting weekend, but great fun. A picture of me working even ended up on the official expo twitter!
If you do find it, and you have seen a photo of me before- I chopped off most of my hair back in January! Its something I've wanted to do for years, but always scared due to having curly/ wavy/ thick/ just general Worst hair type. But I got tired of it and off a whole lot of it went. DO NOT REGRET, 10/10 DECISION, I RECOMMEND EVERYONE DOES IT.
Anyway, I'm going to try and be more active. Its a little difficult when your arms always feel like flattened spaghetti, but I do feel bad for going for such long periods without really producing anything. Especially considering I managed to pull myself together a bit more in the worst of the post-christmas rush.

Where else to find me
*deep weary sigh* so, this isnt a "i'm leaving this site and never returning" kinda message but a "dear god i no longer trust the people working on this site". it feels like the number of updates to actually help artists have dwindled. The features on this site that help people get noticed seem to have been deprioritised years ago. And then we get news pushed out to us to try and sell us web 3.0, and now a goddamn AI art generator....... 🤢 Even the things that are being made to help artists are implemented in the worst possible ways - from expiring NFT protection if you dont pay the site money, to having to go into every image one by one to say you dont consent to your work being used to train AI. Quite simply, web 3.0 is dumb, and AI art is some cyberpunk dystopian future tech we maybe shouldnt make. I dont have a handy dandy article on web 3.0, but https://youtu.be/tjSxFAGP9Ss is an excellent video on the topic of AI art. I've already really cut down the time i spend on this
PSA- Don't give strangers Free Art
Long time no journal. And I mean... long time. I usually dont have anything to say here. But yesterday I logged in to see a note from someone, which is rather unusual. And i've been stewing over it since. You see, this was from a complete stranger. Someone i've never come across before. They wanted my art in their browser based game. ... And didn't offer to pay me for it. I want to break this down a little, but the tl;dr of it is going up here: - Do not draw free art for complete strangers. - These people look for artists who are not professionals, do not have large followings, or they feel could use an ego boost - THEY ARE EXPLOITING YOU. - As long as anyone offers to draw free art for complete strangers, they will continue to ask other people for free art. - if EVERYONE demanded payment for their artwork, people will be less likely to see art as "free". Art is a skill. It takes hundreds of hours to get to a point where someone might actually be interested in buying
Fallout 4 modding
So I've been kinda writing a few status updates these last few months with my Adventures in Modding.
Basically, Todd Howard has taken control of my soul and I cannot escape Fallout 4 Hell. Being a PC player, I dived into the world of mods far earlier than I anticipated, and even started working on my own in February. This was before the official tools were released, and it was a littleee harder working out how each little thing related to each other. So much trial and error was involved in that.
BUUUTT now the CK is out. As well as the Bethesda.net platform for uploading files including ~console mods~. Xbox One has had the benefit of consol
Life bluarg
First of all, kinda sorry for not doing a lot lately. My inspiration has just completely dried up and gone @_@. About the only things that happen are dumb dragon doodles, and I already feel bad enough for basically spending a month throwing out dragons. It might be the stuff that actually gets noticed, but I feel bad for not paying attention to my OCs and all their stuff for a few comments... I just can't think of anything for them to do. So dumb dragon doodles it is.
I should really do something with my OCs in general, to actually get people interested in them, but their stories are in pieces as I try and make them not suck... and they won
